DNS Configuration

KS / KS 5000U / KSa 5008U

IEC supports automatic configuration of external DNS, allowing the hosts in the external network to access the applications on Kubernetes through domain names.

During the process of setting up a cluster, you must provide a domain name for the cluster and assign an IP address range (virtual IP address pool) for the Kubernetes applications. When the deployment is completed, add the start IP address of the reserved range to the DNS server list on your client computers or routers, so the hosts can access the cluster. For more information about the procedure, see the “Cluster Deployment” chapter in KS Installation Guide.

When installing an application after the cluster has been set up, you can choose to expose the application by using the load balancer. For easy management and access, you can provide a subdomain name for an application. For more information about installing an app, see the example: App Installation Examples

Note:
  • The cluster domain name cannot be changed once the cluster deployment has completed.
  • If external DNS is not configured, you need to manually configure the /etc/hosts file on the cli-ent computer or access the application directly using the IP address.
